Dragons Den
Dragons – Breda O Dwyer, Mags Kirwan and Tomás O Dowd.
5 ideas were pitched by the children from 6th class under the guidance of their teacher Mr. Walsh.
The Globe
This ideas was a board game where you start your world tour with €10,000 and you must visit 5 countries. After your global journey you must find your way back to Ireland. You can only visit each place once. This board game is to be aimed at children aged 10-13years with a specific interest in geography and travelling. The game will cost €3 to make and the group were hoping to sell the game for between €5 and €7.
The Child Brain
The child brain is more a business idea rather than a product. The Child Brain idea will provide training for grown-ups in Child Psychology. Parents can learn about the difficulties faced by children in their lives. The centre will be free attend and the centre will be financed by selling books, games and different products to the people who use the service. It was suggested by the Dragons that perhaps a cover charge might be a good idea to help with the financial running of the centre.
Life Problems
This is a Virtual Reality game which will guide and lead a child through certain problems they might face. The Virtual Reality will give you the correct solutions to given situation or problems that may arise in life. The retail price for this is €100-€150. Normal VR games cost €80 but this one is more expensive because it is more expensive.
Coffee Scrub
This idea is to make a coffee scrub used washing your hands and body. The scrub will be paragon free. The coffee grinds that are used in the coffee scurb are collected locally from Billy’s Tea Rooms. The packet will contain 200g and will retail at €5. Other brands of coffee scrub on the market retail for anything from €10-25. The cost of making the scrub is around €1.50 per pack. The scrub will contain lavender for scent and also both coconut oil and brown sugar to aid exfoliation.
Geography Dash
This is a board game where the object of the game is to travel from Kerry to Antrim on the map. You get 5 seconds to name a town in any of the counties you land on. All towns in each county are listed on a card. Person with the most money at the end of the game is deemed the winner. This game will really help with expanding your knowledge of Irish geography.
The “Dragons” consulted briefly and decided that the Coffee Scrub was the best and most workable idea but all other business ideas were praised.
